SELF PORTRAIT - LOST SOUL

Nell’autoritratto l’artista rappresenta sé stesso in maniera estremamente diretta e priva di qualsiasi abbellimento. L’espressione è severa e introspettiva, lo sguardo frontale e penetrante, in linea con l’atmosfera silenziosa e sospesa dell’opera, che appare quindi come una composizione semplice ma emotivamente densa. Al centro campeggia l’artista: vestito completamente di nero, con le mani in tasca e visibilmente tormentato, risulta in pieno in contrasto con lo sfondo piatto e uniforme di color salmone. Il solo elemento narrativo è una targa sul muro con la cifra 6 espressa in numeri romani e delle scritte sfocate, come a indicare un destino non ancora definito. Il titolo Lost Soul suggerisce appunto uno stato d’animo caratterizzato da una profonda crisi esistenziale e identitaria, che si riflette nella posa rigida, nell’ambiente vuoto e nella scarna scelta cromatica che amplificano il senso di solitudine.
