BACK WHERE YOU BELONG

In un non luogo che sembra appartenere alla dimensione del sogno, una donna che sembra uscita dal finale di un film hollywoodiano cinge in un abbraccio e bacia appassionatamente l'uomo elegante che la attendeva nei pressi della sala d'aspetto. In quest'opera si ritrovano due temi caratteristici di Vettriano, ovvero la celebrazione della femminilità e l'esaltazione del sentimento che, in questo contesto, sembrano voler suggerire la presenza di un lieto fine. L'abbigliamento e il trasporto dei due amanti richiamano alla mente scene indimenticabili di pellicole come Casablanca, la sala d'aspetto alle spalle dei protagonisti si fa cornice di un amore corrisposto, di un'attesa finalmente ripagata.

In a non-place that seems to belong to the realm of dreams, a woman who seems to have stepped out of the ending of a Hollywood movie embraces and passionately kisses the elegant man who was waiting for her near the waiting room. In this work, two characteristic themes of Vettriano are found, namely the celebration of femininity and the exaltation of feeling which, in this context, seem to suggest the presence of a happy ending. The clothing and the transport of the two lovers bring to mind unforgettable scenes from films like Casablanca, the waiting room behind the protagonists becomes the frame of a requited love, of a finally repaid wait.
